The market for omega-3s is in a state of rapid transformation due to recent technology innovations and converging market trends. Clinical studies continue to highlight the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids for cardiovascular and cognitive health, as well as other areas including joint health and eye health.

In addition to recent improvements in the sustainability profile of omega-3s, it is now possible to select omega-3 grades that can match the dietary and lifestyle needs of specific target consumer groups. Furthermore, innovations in omega-3 delivery now offer far higher levels of bioavailability, stability and flexibility, creating attractive opportunities for its combination with other ingredients in a single formulation.

This webinar will review the latest science on omega-3s for cardiovascular health as well as other health areas. Emerging opportunities to develop multi-ingredient combination products that can used with specific consumer groups or application areas, will also be reviewed, as well as the use of functional coatings with omega-3 supplements.

Dr. Studte has been the Director of New Health Ingredients at Evonik since 2017. During that time, he has coordinated the development and commercial adoption of Evonik’s omega-3 platform across multiple international regions. In parallel, he has supported a number of nutraceutical companies to develop new formulations with omega-3 powder ingredients.

He has also held other senior roles at Evonik in R&D and technical marketing. He received his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg in Germany. As a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Japan, he undertook multiple projects in the field of medicinal chemistry.

Lisa has been with Evonik since 2004. In 2014 she joined the Food Ingredients seggment of Evonik Health Care. During that time, she has specialized in health ingredients and functional coatings for nutraceutical applications.

Lisa has significant expertise in supporting nutraceutical companies in the utilization of functional coatings to protect health ingredients or mask their taste and odor, enhance solubility of health ingredients, and optimize effectiveness through sustained release, delayed release or colonic targeting.

She graduated from the University of Applied Sciences in Darmstadt with a Bachelor of Science.
