Overview
Bioresorbable functional polymers such as PLGA play an important role in long-acting and targeted injectable drug products. Parenteral drug delivery systems are becoming increasingly complex to deliver small molecules, peptides, proteins, and nucleic acids (e. g. mRNA), including those with highly potent or sensitive APIs, for new treatment modalities across a wide range of therapy areas. Many of these new drug products require highly specialized functional polymeric excipients to precisely control the release profile of a specific drug in the target tissue.
In this webinar, Evonik will present various excipients with properties that address the specific development and GMP manufacturing requirements of such complex products. Areas of focus will include sterile polymeric excipients for aseptic manufacturing, PLA-PEG diblock copolymers for nanoparticle delivery and polyorthoesters, as well as the use of plant-derived cholesterol for use in liposomal-based drug products.
