Reformulation strategies for oral drug products

Back to overview

Overview

Many reformulation strategies pursued by pharmaceutical companies for oral dosage forms are based upon the modification of the original product’s drug release profile. Functional excipients can also help to reformulate an existing product into superior dosage forms such as sustained release multiparticulates and matrix tablets to improve performance, and reduce dosage frequency, or to further improve solubility and reduce drug load. Reformulation strategies and case studies covering these topics will be presented.
