EUDRAGIT ® - A key excipient for solubility enhancement & taste masking in ODT formulations

Overview

Almost half of currently marketed drug products, and around 90 percent of those in clinical development are associated with poor drug solubility or permeability. Over the past two decades, Evonik has worked with customers to choose the right polymer excipient, process technology and formulation solutions to overcome poor solubility of APIs.

In the first part of this webinar, Evonik’s experts Dr. Jessica Mueller-Albers and Dr. Vineetkumar Patel will explain how EUDRAGIT^® functional polymers can be used to improve drug solubility and permeability. They also discuss how the portfolio can enhance drug solubility in parallel with achieving other functionality outcomes.

In the second part of the event they will focus on how to achieve best taste masking properties in orally disintegrating tablets (ODT).

Dr. Jessica Müller-Albers joined Evonik’s Health Care business line in 2010 and is currently working as Strategic Marketing Director for oral solutions.

Before taking over the current position she was group leader for drug delivery where she focused on the development and analytics of new oral and parenteral platform technologies for the pharma and food industry as well as the development of cell culture media.

She held different positions in application service and formulation development of oral excipients and worked for a contract manufacturer where she gained experience in developing solid and semi-solid dosage forms, product transfer, manufacturing of clinical-trial medication, GMP and high potent handling.

She received her degree in pharmacy from the University of Halle/Saale and her Ph.D. from the University of Duesseldorf where she specialized on melt extrusion of poorly soluble drugs.

Moreover, she authored several research papers, book chapters and patents.

Dr. Vineetkumar Patel

Dr. Vineetkumar Patel is heading the Formulation & Application Services team for the Asia South region. He joined Evonik in November 2016 as Formulation & Application Services Manager for the Gujarat & North India region. In Evonik, he has worked with customers on EUDRAGIT^® based modified release product development, scale up & process optimization, troubleshooting exercises and technical promotion.

Vineet holds a masters degree in pharmacy from Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi and a doctoral degree in pharmaceutical sciences from Nirma University, Ahmedabad. Before joining Evonik, Vineet has worked in Indian pharmaceutical companies like Torrent Pharmaceuticals, Emcure Pharmaceuticals & Glenmark Pharmaceuticals and has developed skills in solid oral formulation development and metered dose inhalation devices.
