Overview
This one-day event will be an excellent opportunity for lab managers and senior scientists from formulation development, scale-up, process development or production as well as for colleagues from business development who want to learn more about promising formulation strategies to meet challenging therapeutic needs. Participants will learn about novel solutions for specific target groups and also about innovative formulation techniques.
Experts from industry and academia will present topics relevant for modern drug product development. Furthermore, the agenda will provide room for individual expert discussions and know-how exchange. Attendees will be able to directly apply their learnings from this seminar to their daily work.
Schedule
The seminar starts at 9:30 am on Thursday, June 22, 2017 and finishes at 4:00 pm on the same day. To see the detailed seminar agenda please click

Dr. Norbert Maurer is heading the R&D facility at Evonik Transferra Nanosciences, a Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization that provides CMC services to organizations engaged in the development and manufacture of complex delivery-based drug formulations. Dr. Maurer has a track record of advancing drug technologies from discovery through preclinical development into clinical trials (examples are Alocrest™ and Marqibo™, liposomal formulations of anticancer agents). Dr. Maurer received his doctorate in Chemistry from Karl-Franzens University in Austria. He is the author of 31 peer-reviewed papers, review articles and book chapters and an inventor on 6 patents.
- Dr. Mine Orlu (UCL School of Pharmacy)
Dr. Mine Orlu is a pharmacist. She joined UCL School of Pharmacy in 2008 as a post-doctoral research fellow to perform studies on vaccine formulations, followed by her second post-doc position in Dr. Catherine Tuleu`s group to work in the field of paediatric drug delivery. She was appointed as Lecturer in Pharmaceutics to develop a research agenda in medicines for older people in 2012. She leads the UCL SoP`s Research Cluster for Age-related medicines development and use and chairs The Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences Age-related medicines Focus Group.
- Dr. Catherine Tuleu (UCL School of Pharmacy)
Dr. Catherine Tuleu is a Reader in Pharmaceutics at the UCL School of Pharmacy and a leading expert in developing paediatric medicines. Her research, inherently translational, ranges from formulation, process and methodology development to clinical implementation.
She chairs the European Paediatric Formulation Initiative and acts as an expert advisor to the UK Medicines and Health Products Regulatory Agency and the EMA. In 2015 Dr. Tuleu received the Academy of Pharmaceutical Science award and she was listed in the top 2 of The Medicine Maker magazine 2016 Power List of the 100 most influential people in drug development for her work in the field of paediatric drug formulations.
