Overview

This 2-days seminar with a hands-on lab session in the Pharmazac laboratories will be an excellent opportunity for lab managers and senior scientists from formulation development, scale-up, production or process development who want to learn about design, handling, processing and preparation of EUDRAGIT® formulations. Participants will get a very focused training on relevant topics connected to EUDRAGIT® and its versatile applications for oral drug delivery. Also for participants from academia this event may be of high relevance.

International experts and guest speakers from industry and academia will present relevant topics. Furthermore, the agenda will provide room for expert discussions and know-how exchange. Attendees will be able to directly apply their learnings from this seminar to their daily work.

Agenda

Day 1 of this seminar will take place at ChemiX. Day 2 and the practical part of the seminar will take place at Pharmazac. Both days of the event can be visited independently from each other.

Giuseppe started with Evonik Industries, Roehm GmbH in November 1979 where he was working in the production of EUDRAGIT®.

After 8 years, in 1987 he changed from the production department to the “Technical Service Group” where he was responsible for formulation design, EUDRAGIT® applications, formulations development for customers, in-house service as well as at customer sides.

In 1993 he changed to the “Marketing and Sales Department” as “Regional Marketing and Sales Manager” for South East Asia, Poland and Italy.

From 1998 to 2010 he worked as “Regional Marketing and Key Account Manager”, responsible for Latin America, Middle East, Italy, Malta Island, Eastern Europe, Russia and the African Continent

In his current position he works as Business Director for Southern and Eastern Europe.
Dr. Miriam Robota

Dr. Miriam Robota is Head of Formulation Services within Evonik Operations GmbH in Darmstadt. In this function, she is responsible for the business development and implementation of formulation development service projects with focus on pharmaceutical solid oral dosage forms. In her function, she is further giving technical consultation and trainings on the Evonik Health Care product portfolio.

She received her degree in Pharmacy in 2009 at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany. After an internship at Merck Selbstmedikation GmbH in Darmstadt, Germany in the quality control of solid dosage forms, Dr. Robota completed her Ph.D. studies in Pharmaceutical Technology in 2014 at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany. The topic of her thesis was the development, characterization, and in vitro testing of biodegradable nanoparticle formulations for treatment of neurological diseases.

Following to her Ph.D. thesis, she started her industrial career in 2014 at Evonik as Manager Technical Service for Western Europe, followed by several functions within Evonik over the years, such as heading the Formulation Development Laboratory, Application Technology Laboratory and Production of clinical sample manufacturing for clinical studies phase I and II. During this time, Dr. Robota gained substantial knowledge in the application of EUDRAGIT® within the formulation development of solid oral dosage forms with immediate and modified release.

Dr. Robota is regular speaker at workshops and international conferences and is author of several publications.
Prof. Dr. Dimitrios Rekkas

Dimitrios M. Rekkas is Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology at the Department of Pharmacy, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA),Greece from where he has received his Bachelor in Pharmacy and PhD in Pharmaceutical Technology. He has also an ΜSc. in Total Quality Management. His research and teaching interests include: Pharmaceutical Technology, Industrial Pharmacy, Dosage Form Design, Experimental Design, Statistical Process Control, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Total Quality Management and Quality by Design.He was a visiting scientist at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and an invited professor at the Universities of Vienna, Parma and Ferrara. He is lecturing extensively on the subjects of his expertise in conferences and many European Universities within the Erasmus Teaching Staff Mobility Program. He has served as Director of the Laboratory and Section of Pharmaceutical Technology of the Department of Pharmacy. Moreover he is member of the International Relations and European Educational Programs Committee of the University of Athens and vice President of the European Association of Faculties of Pharmacy (EAFP). He is a co-author in research papers published in peer reviewed scientific journals, patents, a book on Total Quality Management and supervisor of MSc and PhD students in the research areas of his expertise. He is currently the Head of the Department of Pharmacy.
