Join us for a thought-provoking session where science meets strategy in the evolving world of drug delivery.
This Lunch & Learn will spotlight cutting-edge technologies that are shaping the future of therapeutics - precision targeting utilising innovative delivery technologies:

1- Lipids are one of the pillar excipients for drug delivery systems and are especially important for RNA-based therapies such as mRNA vaccines.
2- Long-acting injectables, particularly those based on microparticles, nanoparticles and implants, are among the most attractive parenteral products in the pharmaceutical industry.

This event will be hosted by Evonik Health Care, featuring talks from Dr. Sophie Hammer and Dr. Juan Tome-Alcade. We are also delighted to welcome our guest speaker from Ethris GmbH, Dr. Steffen Meyer who will present on innovative and exciting delivery technology.

Juan Tomé Alcalde is currently Technical Support Manager in Evonik's Formulation & Application Services group and located in Darmstadt, Germany. He provides technical support for oral and parenteral polymers in the EMEA Region.

From 2002 to 2010 he attended the School of Pharmacy, UCM, Madrid, Spain, for undergraduate and graduate studies, achieving two master degrees in Pharmacy and Industrial Pharmacy & Galenics.

Juan started his career at Evonik in 2007 in the drug delivery department. From 2007 to 2010 he worked as part of an internship, then as Pharmacist and Head of Evonik's Particle laboratory until 2013, co-inventing several patents.

Between 2013 and 2018 he transferred to Evonik Japan and worked as a Technical Support Manager with focus on complex parenterals.

Since his return in, he has been providing technical support to customers from different countries in the EMEA region.

Steffen Meyer is Senior Director Business Development at Ethris, a Munich-based biotech company pioneering mRNA therapeutics for respiratory applications.
In this role he focuses on strategic partnerships and collaborations to advance the development of innovative mRNA-based medicines.
Since joining Ethris in 2015 he served in key positions, including Project Lead, Director of Discovery Biology and Group Leader of Protein Science & Analytics before transitioning into business development. Following his PhD in Biotechnology, he obtained scientific expertise in academic research and industry, and co-authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and is a named inventor on several patents.
